But, one quick jest at something many kids can relate to can be humorous. I have asthma and I've seen several shows/movies that make jest at childhood asthma and kids' use of asthma inhalers, like the classic 80's kids' film "The Goonies". I wasn't offended by the asthma inhaler joke(s) in Goonies and thought it was funny, partly because I could relate to the character and partly because it was just funny. And, none of my friends/schoolmates who also saw Goonies made fun of my asthma after seeing the film. Many shows and movies also make jest of seafood allergies, showing someone swelling from eating fish, and I've never heard of any flack over those jokes. But usually, only one quick joke or jab is made on the topic. It's not usually turned into an ongoing joke made throughout the show.

I haven't seen the episode in question, but if it was bad enough to get removed, I'm pretty surprised that they even got it into production. Disney's legal department is usually pretty vigilant about these sorts of things, so I'm somewhat surprised that it got approved. That said, Jessie is hardly a big-budget production, and leaves a lot to be desired (especially in the script department), so it's not all that shocking

Wasn't there also an episode of Hannah Montana that got pulled for making fun of some sort of medical condition?

Latent promiscuity on the part of the star?

And my mom had anaemia for years before they found out what was really wrong with her. Celiac disease (aka the gluten allergy) is extremely serious and nothing to mess with.

SingleParkPassholder- I know. We're all SO disappointed in her. Another tween star down the tubes, and who maybe will end up with tubes in her arms.
Oh, but there's always job openings in Vegas. She ought to fit right in.
