    Gun owners often trot out this red herring of "well, cars, or [insert everyday item here] kill people too!" But guns are designed solely to kill, whether animals or humans. People may only go target shooting or clay shooting, they may even hope they never have to use the gun in self-defense, but the end purpose is the same. Comparing guns to other things is apples and oranges.

But we restrict alcohol sales in certain cases, and I think we can restrict gun sales as well without infringing anyone's rights. Which to me means making sure the laws that are already supposed to keep minors and the mentally ill from getting guns are enforced effectively, which means closing the gun show loophole.
