NEW YORK (AP) -- Department-store operator Macy's Inc. said Thursday it will close 11 underperforming stores in nine states -- affecting 960 employees -- and lowered its forecast for the fourth quarter after one of the weakest holiday seasons in years.

Stores slated to close include locations in Los Angeles, West Palm Beach, Fla., Nashville, Tenn., and St. Louis, among others

    Here are the stores.

Prior to Macy's, it was a Robinsons-May department store. I worked for Robinsons-May during the transition from two separate store names (Robinson's and May Company) into one.

I was amazed that the downtown location lasted even back then.

There's one inside the MGM Grand in Las Vegas that does pretty well, too.

I am going to guess the one in Woodfield Mall - Schaumburg IL does very well also- however that is the 2nd largest mall in the country -

the orignal flagship Field's in Downtown Chicago has underperformed by a lot since they pitched the Field's name - there are groups set up here who still protest --

Most people I know here hate Macy's for that reason. They were to open more stores here but cancelled that idea after the Field's backlash. They do not carry the same lines ( high end) that Field's did, service is lousier and the stores not maintained as well

they could close all of them here and shopping wise I could care less

We used to go to Rainforest Cafe at Downtown Disney in Anaheim. The food was pretty decent. The noise factor was always an issue for me.

I know some families like to let their kids run around and scream in a place like Rainforest Cafe, but even at a family-oriented theme park resort it gets to be a bit much.

That was part of what I didn't like. The racket made by the mechanical animals (we sat RIGHT next to the gorilla) every 10 minutes was another part. And the food wasn't that good, and overpriced. Sure, it's DLR, so "overpriced" sort of goes with the territory, but the equivalent food at ESPN Zone, say, is less - and that's one door down.

Once was enough for me at RFC.

As for Macy's, I'm not surprised at all. I hardly shop there anymore because it's such a headache.
