But people have no more business commenting on this than they did with Woody Allen. This isn't Team Singer vs. Team Egan. It is beyond gross that people choose up sides. The very thing that makes accusations like this so emotionally charged is exactly the same reason they should be handled calmly and rationally by professionals: They are extremely serious and they ruin lives. Then we have "news" outlets rushing to print stories that say Bryan Singer's twink pool parties are an "open secret" in Hollywood. There's dozens of unanswered questions. How do we know anything happened at all? The boy says it did, and he has a significant financial interest in saying this happened. How do we know it wasn't consensual sex? How do we know the boy didn't lie about his age to Bryan Singer to try and get a role in a movie (a common Hollywood occurrence)? How do we know these other men knew how old the boy was? How do we know the accuser isn't lying about them? How do we know that sex wasn't consensual? How do we know these pool parties didn't involve people only over 18? We know absolutely jack squat about this situation, apart from a guy who said something happened over a decade ago, and the media went completely bananas because it involves a famous person. Look, I have no doubt Hollywood has a problem with older men pursuing young, vulnerable people trying to break into the business. I have no doubt that sexual abuse is a much more common occurrence than people making up stories about abuse. But these are devastating accusations to make. And our culture treats them like it's just the latest news fodder. Make no mistake: anyone can say anything they want about you and if the media decides to report on it, it will become reality for people, no matter if it's true or not.

Jackson comes to mind, how many times was he accused and found not guilty? That lacrosse team accused of rape and was a flat out lie. But the media grabbed it and looked like fools later. People love gossip and grab the torches and pitch forks with out ever letting the whole story come out in a court of law. Kind of sad people have nothing better to do really.
