They bang their spoon on the metal tray of their oversized high chair and wail loudly because attention, positive or negative, is what they are after. Ignore them, and they'll get even louder and more intense in their rhetoric. But ignoring them is truly the very best way to handle it. And of course, when the inevitably violate community standards by swearing or threatening, remember the REPORT TO MODERATOR button. Trolls don't get the hint. You can't out-insult them. The thing that truly pains them is when they are totally and completely ignored. Anything else feeds the troll. This thread feeds the troll, but I think it's high time we all start ignoring troll around here.

Just because someone says something idiotic, off the wall or nasty does not make that poster insincere or a phony. It is my understanding that a troll is one who comes on solely to cause trouble, so how do you know another poster's intent if you don't know who they are to begin with? For all we know you yourself could be a troll(I don't think that you are) by playing two or three other "characters", alter egos or "evil twin". A lot of "regulars" on here seem to call another a "troll" when they disagree or are offended by a poster.
