But the unheralded dorks perpetuating lawsuit abuse are common folk, folk like some of us who comprise juries. These juries love to give away other people's money. Heck, what do they care?It's not coming out of their pockets so they tend to be liberal when awarding. That is the problem few talk about. Juries are more or less the last real chance to bring common sense back into our legal system and knowing how stupid and emotional the general populous is I'm not holding my breath for positive changes.

And the unfortunate part of these "big settlement" cases is it begins with the deep pockets (of course) like cigarette companies, casinos, and other big conglomerates...and of course the lawyers make a big point about the fact that "they can afford it". And they can. But then what happens is these big numbers become commonplace, and when people sue smaller companies and individuals they ask for more and more, and that's where things get skewed and people get hurt. That's not justice. In fact, it's more like a casino.
