Rumors have some things start to be reduced or eliminated starting right after Labor Day, 2006.

November 2006, when the Christmas celebrations start, you should expect to have the vast majority of 50th decorations removed, and that both the Parade of Dreams and the Remember Fireworks will be over.

Beliver in Holiday Magic fireworks and the Christmas Parade will be offered, followed by a new Parade in 2007, along with a new fireworks show.

Final decisions have not been made.

GO TO DISNEYLAND! :) we had SO much fun, they have really stepped up for the 50th. everything is clean and spruced up, even the jungle cruise has a little more fun than usual. we had so much fun even with the maxed out crowds.....i loved the stuff they brought back from the old days...Tinkerbell lighting the fireworks, Mickey climbing the Matterhorn, etc. We even ran into Maynard. it was SO great! :)
    Go see it!

I clearly stated that final decisions have not been made.

But I would predict that ONLY the Christmas Parade will be offered for the Holiday period of 2006, and that the garland will once again drape Main Street.

As for 2007, we shall see. Parade of Dreams could come back as is, or some changes could happen, and the parade will return in 2007 with some changes. Or they could offer a new parade.

As always, everything at Disney is always subject to change.

One thing I am pretty sure of, Santa will not return to Main Street, as the response to Santa's Reindeer Round Up has been positive, from many viewpoints, yes, the guests, but also Management, from crowd control, to seperating the Kodak Santa photos to their own printing station, and other positive internal benefits.

I have yet to see Tinkerbell do her acrobatics, since the one time I saw the new fireworks she never appeared.

Only thing is, it seems as if the new fireworks are pretty tempermental...the first nite we were there, (friday) they had the fireworks but it was so drizzly and cloudy that the sky didn't allow half of them to show up, and poor Tinkerbell looked like she was getting soaked ;) They cancelled the snow.
The SECOND nite (saturday) they CANCELLED the fireworks, but then set off the snow :) So i got to see both...sort of ;) I have seen the snow in all its glory in previous years and it is neat if you haven't seen it before.
Just know that the 50th fireworks WILL be cancelled if it is windy or rainy (saturday was clear skies but too windy) because they set them off from all over the park and things have to be safe and just right. have fun!

Of course, they could make decisions for a new parade, but I doubt it.

What is really interesting about Parade of Dreams is that it is based on Disney movies besides the first two floats, and there is the potential for new stories to be represented in float units for future changes. But that is all highly skeptical and I don't think it will happen.

I don't think they will spend their money on new day parades, when new nighttime entertainment is being worked on for Disneyland in the near future- but that is still in the primitive stage, and most who work there would probably deny it.

There are so many animated movies in the past ten years that have been neglected and would certainly be fun to see in some form in a new parade. And no doubt new animated features and characters on the horizon that will be worthy of a parade.

And a new night time parade/updated MSEP is DESPERATELY needed, whether it will be performed at DL or DCA, the MSEP needs a MAJOR makeover. (and in fact should have been done for the 50th ~ but thanks to the Pressler/Harriss regime parades also became a run to failure show)

I guess they never figured out how to attach a cash register to a parade.

And this doesn't even need to be re-engineered. A totally revamped Eletrical Parade (think "MILLIONS of sparkling lights" instead of thousands) with a classic yet modernized soundtrack is already in nightly service at a Disneyland. All TDA has to do is... oh, nevermind.

We really liked that. Santa was so funny and even with the Thanksgiving crowd we did not wait long to see him. The reindeer were really cool.

To anyone contemplating a trip to DL in the future I stronly recommend making it before the 50th stops. (I have driven friends and family crazy since May 5th telling them to get there in the next 18 months.) I made sure that all of my kids and grandkids made it this summer. I have never seen fireworks like these before and doubt that I will again. They are unbelievable!!!! I was there May5, July17, July28, Oct6 and again for Thanksgiving weekend. We are planning a trip for late winter/early spring hoping that maybe some of the crowds will have diminished.

Where exactly did you hear that? Again, from what I was told, and this time about Walt Disney World, that this was untrue.
