Not when Obama is commenting on the Palestinian statehood, and the hikers are freed in Iran, and Metta World Peace was the first kicked off of Dancing with the Stars (Ron Artest, basketball player for you old school types). Hamas will get plenty of play from it, internationally. But what does that matter to someone on the streets of Houston?

Excellent article here: http://www.slate.com/id/2304311/ "Then he was asked: "To what extent do you view America's continued protection of Israel as a theological priority?" He answered: 'Well, obviously, Israel is our oldest and most stable democratic ally in that region. That is what this is about. I also as a Christian have a clear directive to support Israel. So from my perspective, it's pretty easy. Both as an American and as a Christian, I am going to stand with Israel.' Whoa. That's something George W. Bush never did. Bush never said he had a Christian duty to stand with Israel, because to say such a thing would have been stupid and dangerous. By framing U.S. foreign policy in terms of a religious alliance between Christians and Jews, Perry is validating the propaganda of Islamic extremists. He's jeopardizing peace, Israel, and the United States. Bush understood that the terrorists who struck us on 9/11 wanted a religious war. The key to defeating them wasn't to wage that war, but to refuse it. That's why Bush constantly praised Islam, emphasized American freedom of religion, and dismissed Osama Bin Laden as a renegade killer of Muslims." More at the link. Evangelicals tend to fancy themselves as strong friends of the Israelis (who will only have to convert to Christianity when Jesus returns to continue to be their friends), but Saletan is right; Bush tapped into those folks as well, but in his public pronouncements was never this stupid. It's like I said a while ago: Rick Perry is George W. Bush without the brains. Ponder THAT for a second.

He is also EXTREMELY boring. On a side note, I dont like the guy. Romney, IMHO, is a much, much better candidate.

The born-againers won't, the tea partiers won't, the people who are in snit-mode about 'Obamacare' won't - he's going to have a tough time winning a single southern state. Even if the party holds it's nose and he gets the nomination, he's no more appealing to the independents than he is to the extreme righties. In sum, he can "look" the part, but he's unelectable. Some tv pundit called Romney the box that a better candidate comes in.

There are always circumstances behind numbers and as someone who is all over the country and particularly in California, the economy is much stronger here. Not to be name dropping to make things sound more legit, but my sister was vice president of the Komen foundation and left to become President of Stand Up To Cancer in Los Angeles. She left that position to come back to Texas and start her own non-profit. She talks about how dismal the economy and fundraising is in California and how much better it is here. Also explains the massive flood of businesses and people leaving California and many places on the east coast to come to Texas.

My personal favorite is how white democrats start talking with a southern black accent when speaking to a black audience. I feel like its an extremely rare occasion when I find a democratic candidate who realy knows who they are and is completely comfortable in their own skin and with what they believe. They seem to have to pander to popular culture and feel the need to be accepted in these circles. Realy is quite strange.

Sort of like performers yelling out "You ready to rock, Cleveland?" But Romney was so transparent, that it was easy to compare "what he said then "footage against "what he's saying now." He was craven and artless about it. (Remember his "lifelong hunter" whopper?)

Originally Posted By fkurucz "fkurukz, so you seriously believe the economy in California is better than Texas. Please!!!!!" The numbers don't lie. Texas has a higher poverty rate Texas has more food stamp recipients The bulk of the new jobs in Texas are low paying. One thing Texas does have in its favor vs. California is that it skipped the housing bubble.
