I think the whole point would be that if a documentary filmmaker, with no previous ties to the Arab world, can find him, then the government can and isn't for some reason. No one wants to see bin Laden dead or captured more than me (except maybe the 9/11 families). But some things are bigger than individual people, and if Spurlock's documentary can demonstrate that the Bush administration, either through sheer incompetence or deliberate planning, couldn't find bin Laden when he could, that's worth more than the man. It can wake up the nation to just what we've been living with for the past 7 years.

He's a genuine threat to the entire world, and while his elimination won't solve the problem, it would be a severe body blow to Al Qaeda, the sooner the better. Spurlock could make this Administration look plenty bad by informing them of his whereabouts without waiting to show any documentary. I can't fathom the idea of not telling the government where bin Laden is just so Spurlock can do it in a movie.

So, if he DID find him, and is showing proof of it on film, it is probably one of the most stupid stunts ever pulled.

That said, while many Americans would be outraged that Spurlock wouldn't say anything, or just pull out a 9mm and shoot bin Laden in the head the second he saw him, I guess I'm far more pissed off at the notion that this guy can find bin Laden, but Bush can't. I'd only add that, if he really did find him, we don't know the circumstances. We all have a general idea of where bin Laden is. Spurlock might have been blind-folded and driven for hours at a time before meeting with bin Laden. bin Laden may have been brought to meet him, etc. Of course, this makes his claim that he "found bin Laden" a little bit disingenuous, but it also takes some of the sting away that he has bin Laden's address and isn't giving it to the government.
