feel free to discuss - I am wthdrawing after a whopping one week back -- funny after a post where I praised the job Rahm Emmanuel is doing in Chicago- but you know- I'll just a bitter dumb arse conservative according to one poster.
    back to WDW threads..

<<this is the reason why moderates don't stay here long>>

Really? I thought it was because you folks don't like the fact that WE has flipped to mostly progressive since Obama won the White House.

We liberals in WE had to put up with a conservative majority on the boards when Bush was in the White House. Now that the tables have turned in our favor politically, you conservatives are all upset because somehow, we liberals are now treating you poorly on the boards.

Give me a break. We weren't treated well during the Bush years, but we're supposed to forget all that and now treat you overly sensitive conservatives with kid gloves. Boo hoo cry me a river.

I am not going to apologize for my statement, given what I've seen from conservative posters on WE for the past two years.

You are now in the minority in WE, as a conservative.

Liberals were in the minority on WE during Bush's reign of terror for two terms.

We were treated like dog food by the conservatives such as Douglas and Beau and DB, yet we stuck around and participated anyway.

The so-called lame treatment you claim to be getting from posters like me, because you're not a liberal, pales in comparison to the trash talk we got daily from the conservative posters who supported Bush and his flying monkeys on everything they did.

Seriously... you're getting far better treatment overall from us than we ever got from the conservatives.

Good day and thanks for playing.

(Don't let the WE door hit you on the way out.)

    Idiocy regarding politics. As usual.

Someone was claiming to be 'moderate' while espousing convenient and continuous defenses of conservative ideology, which was topped off with an example of a "flip-flopping" politician.

The first example of a flip-flopper that came to his mind was Kerry, even though that happened YEARS ago.

I pointed out John McCain, who recently flipped on DADT in the past year. And as Dabob pointed out, Kerry actually did change his position and belief. He didn't "flip" as the GOP kept telling the American voters in 2004, ad nauseum. McCain, OTOH, basically lied about supporting the repeal of DADT if the Generals changed their minds about repeal. When they did so and recommended repeal, McCain acted as though he never stated he would. It was one of the biggest flips in our recent political history, yet vbdad stated that Kerry was the one that stuck in his mind the most.

When I "questioned" why it was that Kerry was his first thought instead of McCain -- picking a Dem instead of a Republican -- he got all defensive and huffy, proclaiming that the attitude of progressives on these boards towards moderates was why the moderates weren't sticking around. (Of course, it has more to do with Dems in DC and that progressives now outnumber moderates and conservatives on WE, but most of them will steadfastly refuse to admit it.)

That's what prompted this, my good Doctor.

And for the record... I still refuse to apologize for sticking up for the liberals after what we endured by conservative posters in the past.

If the moderate and conservative posters can't handle the heat, then they can leave. Just as they were telling us liberals to do, during the Bush years.

If you disagree with a point he's making, fine. Disagree, say why, back it up... but enough with lumping all conservatives together and all that, huh?

vbdad, I hope you'll stick around.

You endured NOTHING from vbdad. It is unfair to hold him responsible for the rantings of someone like Beau. I don't think I've ever seen a vbdad post that personally attacked someone whereas you do all the time. But I'm also sure vbdad would never expect an apology from one of LP's most abrasive posters.

ecdc... you up for the challenge? Here's his comment from another thread:

"The only people who will be able to afford to go here exxept the uber elite will be government workers/ teachers and union workers who all will have pensions so grandma and grandpa can take the family since the taxpayers are covering pensions that are actuarilly unsound and bankrupting the states and feds. When private sector pensions were removed 10-12 years ago who cried for us Argentina ? No one. What party do the overwhelming majority of these people vote for ? Hint- it's not the one you mention.

Both parties are bankrupting this country in different ways - both have their own 'elite' groups...

but you choose one to single out -- really, you know better than that.

show me someone in power in Washington- either party who is for the middle class --"

Truthfully, this is what set me off. I didn't realize he actually believed this crap to this extent.
