Confessing to what he has done and dealing with any consequences would be the honorable route. I totally agree with your first mind though Mr X. Call it heartless, but I'm glad he's dead too. Of course, I don't know enough about this CFO to know if I'm glad he's dead, but I have a feeling I'll be ambivalent about it.
