Obviously, you wouldn't want to encourage people to engage in risky behavior just for a drug trial. But considering that risky behavior is kind of what you need, one way to accomplish this is to go to people already practicing risky behavior. <<< And did they think that they were protected by just the trial vaccine, or worse, the placebo? >>> Even if some people's behavior is altered by the fact they're in the drug trial, the study can still be effective, as the participants won't know if they have the actual drug or the placebo, and if the sample size is large enough, you can assume that any altered behavior will be about equal between the two groups.
