    >>The question, as we all know, arises from the Wilson "You lie" outburst, and the core claim that notwithstanding specific bill language barring illegal immigrants from participating in the "exchange," as a practical matter, there is no way of verifying the citizenship of applicants -- which is the current state of play. Republicans say that then means illegal immigrants would end up being enrolled in plans -- bill language or no bill language.

Today, for the first time as far as we know, the administration is backing a provision that would require proof of citizenship before someone could enroll in a plan selected on the exchange.

Here, the administration also concedes that hospitals would be compensated with public funds for the care of undocumented immigrants.<<

But if an illegal goes to the emergency room, they're going to be treated. That happens NOW. And guess who pays for it NOW? You and me.

Well, probably not you. I'm convinced you don't have a job and therefore pay no taxes. How else do you dig this stuff up and spend all day long at theme parks? But the rest of us pay for it now.

I specifically asked what relevance Rangel had to Duvall. The correct answer is NONE. Continuing to mention him in the same breath as Duvall means you're still excusing, rationalizing and defending Duvall.

It begs the question. For a guy who is so into conservatism and not granting universal health care to our poorest citizens, it would be funny if he were receiving some kind of income from the government.

I understand that Lutz pays him for his contributions to that site, but I can't imagine you could make a living doing that. Or maybe he won the lottery a long time ago. Who knows.

I know, right? It's such an absurdly obtuse title - like anyone would be dense enough to believe it.

Yes, that's what happened. During the White House press briefing, Robert Gibbs stood up and said, "First, I just want to clarify something. It IS true that the President did lie about health insurance and covering illegal immigrants. Now that that's cleared up, any questions?"

Problem is, the president is being careful to choose issues that 'should be' non-controversial (health care), or even well aligned with the views of his opponents (tax cuts/tort reform). It forces his opponents to argue against issues they're actually in favor of, or just make stuff up.

So we see people demonstrating against taxes at the same time taxes are being lowered. And we see people opposed to health care - kind of like opposing puppies and kittens.

We also see people - actual leaders of the party mind you - saying the president isn't an american citizen(birthers), that he wants to kill the old and infirm (deathers), that he plans to deny health care benefits to republicans, that the goverment has no right to regulate insurance companies (tenthers), that the president wants to take away their guns (he even predicted this one), that he wants the government to socialize health care, banking, the auto industry, and that he's a socialist who intends to turn the nation into a repressive regime - like Hitler.

None of this has any basis in fact, but they repeat these lies anyway. They even have the audacity to scream "lie!" at the president to his face from the floor of the capitol - on live television. Ironically, the previous president - the one they supported - actually WAS a bonafide liar.

Do they really believe this stuff? Not a chance - including the OP. So who are the liars here? That's an easy one - the real question is why? That's an easy one too - we just don't like to say it in polite company.

The solution is also easy - push these nutcases to the side and ignore their tantrums. Their own lunatic antics have stripped them of any credibility and made them irrelevant to the process. As such, they've disqualified themselves from having any meaningful input in the national dialog.

And in 2010 and 2012, turn them out of office whenever and whereever possible. This has become tougher to do. I read an interesting article about why this might be. In 2006 and 2008, the republicans lost the majority, and a significant number of representatives. These "first to go'ers" were the relatively sane ones, elected from relatively moderate, evenly balanced districts. The ones that remain are the ideologues - representing people every bit as crazy as they are, and in what are considered "safe" seats. We may not be able to get these clowns voted out of office, so in some cases we'll have to settle for marginalizing them whenever possible.

The most important thing is that we not allow them to distract or obstruct or derail. They only have as much power as we give them, so it's ultimately up to us - the sane ones. You know who you are.

Got any more lies for us?

Bingo. Van Jones believed he was signing something to investigate Bush era incompetence - how did they drop the ball on 9/11. Especially given a report that said, "Bin Laden Determined to Strike Within U.S."

That's now been turned into "Van Jones is a truther." The audacity with which people like Darkbeer lie is truly astounding.

Yesterday, he was hysterical about "shots being fired" during a coast guard training exercise on 9/11. Even though no shots were ever fired. And he's worried about Van Jones believing in conspiracy theories.
