Furthermore even if the bus was moving I don't see how killing the driver would spell death to everyone on board unless the bus breached some railing and rolled off of a nasty cliff or landed in a river/lake trapping the riders underwater or if the bus stopped at a rail crossing and a train smashed it to pieces. There are other scenarios where the whole busload could have been lost but you get the point that it would have been very unlikely.
