This is an excellent article that breaks down the myth that an Oregon couple was "forced" to bake a cake for a gay wedding and when they didn't lost their business.

But most of all, it's an important reminder of what "religious liberty" actually looks like. It's cast by its loudest proponents as a way to defend shy, humble, picked upon Christians from meanie pants gays who are going to force them to do things that are anathema to their values. What it really looks like is spelled out in this article: the right to condemn and judge and be nasty to other people because your Bible or Family Proclamation says so.

This country clerk is in the wrong.

Except for a few cases like the one ecdc posted. But they are a very, very small percentage of county clerks offices across the US, right?

And yet, right-wing sites and idiots like Huckabee are talking about a "groundswell of resistance."

As I said before, they want to make this recent SCOTUS decision the new Roe v. Wade. But it won't be. It will be the new Loving v. Virginia, with a small and sad contingent never accepting it but most people either getting over it pretty quickly, or downright changing their minds and understanding we should have had equality all along.

Agreed. The real story gets lost in the MSM, as usual.

And I'd like to point out one of the common hypocritical behaviors practiced by fundie Christians like these d-bags that makes me livid. (Sorry, RT, but this crap just ticks me off!)

Go to the link and look at the photo of the Kleins. Take a good look at their earlobes, while keeping in mind what the male d-bag admitted to telling the lesbians:

"Crying and apologizing to her mother, who Cryer felt she'd deeply embarrassed, she headed to the car. A few moments later, her mother returned to the bakery to defend her daughter. She reasoned with Aaron Klein, saying that she'd once felt as he did, but after having two gay children, her 'truth had changed.'

In response, Aaron Klein referenced a Bible verse from Leviticus — which in context, he'd cited perniciously — to call the Bowman-Cryer family 'abominations.'"

Did y'all catch that? He used Leviticus as justification for hating on the gays. While he and wifey sport jewelry through their PIERCED EARLOBES!

Listen up, you hypocritical religious zealot nutjobs:

YOU DO NOT GET TO PICK AND CHOOSE WHICH PARTS OF THE BIBLE YOU ARE "REQUIRED" TO LIVE BY! YOU EITHER ACCEPT ALL OF IT OR NONE OF IT!

Leviticus is very clear about "cuttings of the flesh" which would include piercings.

So why are you, Aaron Klein, using Leviticus to defend your homophobic bigotry and discrimination while simultaneously dangling jewelry from your pierced ears?

You are a hypocritical judgmental bigoted homophobic hate monger!

And quit lying about why you were told to pay the couple $135,000. It wasn't for refusing to bake a "gay wedding" cake! It was for going public with the couples' private home address which allowed fellow d-bags like yourselves to issue death threats to them and their young kids:

    <a target="blank" rel="nofollow" href="http://www.rawstory.com/2015/07/oregon-bakers-werent-fined-over-cake-they-were-punished-for-sharing-lesbian-couples-home-address">http://www.rawstory.com/2015/0...-address</a>

    <>
“It was foreseeable that this attention would negatively impact (the Bowman-Cryers), making (the Kleins) liable for any resultant emotional suffering experienced by (them),” the agency found.

Not only that, as the blog explains, the bakery owners shared the couple’s personal contact information – which led to death threats that nearly caused them to lose custody of their foster children.
    <>

Yeah, it's all about hating Christians, right?

It's all about hating the Kleins because they're decent, god-fearing Christians, right?

And they're the "true victims" in this situation, right?

Nope. Spoiled selfish "human laws don't apply to us" cry babies are what they are.

Christians like these two make baby Jesus cry.
