But, consider who is doing the "ranking". Americans today are about as dumbed down as our society has ever been. Jon Stewart draws more people to his "news" than most network newscasts.

Of course, when our society has had "greats" such as Bill Clinton and George Bush for us to admire and aspire to be then it is no surprise that we are where we are.

Bush has handled this war poorly and there is no arguing that point. But, in terms of "ignoring the constitution, war crimes, etc"...prove it. If that were so simple he'd have been impeached by now.

He deserves the lack of support and confidence that he is getting. I don't know too many Republicans that would deny that.

It still fascinates me that people so easily forget that nearly ALL of the elected officials on both sides of the aisle gave Bush the authority to go to war. Bill and Hillary were both vocally in favor of it even through the first year or so of the effort.

Honestly, Obama and a handful of others are the only ones who should have a clear conscience.

That's even MORE of an indictment, if you ask me.

    Yep, we's brite as nite!

You're contradicting yourself. One of the many reasons he gets no support is because he has given the finger to the Constitution. As for the war crimes, the jury's out there figuratively, and maybe literally later on. I find it unfathomable that you'd actually say "prove it" when it comes to violations of the Consitution. You're smarter than that. Remember the Patriot Act, for starters? Wiretaps? Pressuring Ashcroft on his hospital bed? Gitmo? Etc etc etc

I think I am intelligent enough to be able to say I don't like what is happening yet I don't know how they just "get out of it."

And pecos bill makes a telling statement. As poorly as Bush was perceived he still managed to do better than the best that the Democrats could come up with last time around. Wait until we see what happens this time around with McCain and Obama/Clinton.

I'm absolutely dreading going to the polls in November. I'm quite sure I'm not going to be comfortable with my selection no matter who that turns out to be. What does that say about politics today?

    LOL! Good point!

I'm actually glad to be going to the polls this November for the first time in a long time. I truly believe that any of the three finalists will do a far better job than this miserable administration. I don't feel like I'll be choosing between the lesser of two evils for once.

There has been a much better case for impeachment this time around given the Constitutional violations and war crimes, but I'd suggest the country and Congress just didn't have the stomach for it after the circus that was the Clinton impeachment. The fervor by which vindictive Republicans went after him when a censure would have been more than sufficient, coupled with the fact we were attacked on our own soil, gave Bush all the leeway he needed to trample all over 200 plus years of progress. Impeaching a president at war would practicaly require Bush personally bribing people to vote for the war, or some similar act.

Considering how high his approval ratings were after 9/11, and how much international goodwill he had to work with following that event, only to squander it all over the last 7 years, he surely must be in the running for worst ever from a historical standpoint.

If the economy is able to start turning around before he leaves office, or if Iraq could start winding down by then, perhaps his legacy might be a bit better from a historical perspective.
