Needless, to say the course was fast. The first mile I did in 8:30 but then there was an incline about at the 1.5 mile mark. The last half mile was a hill that nearly got me but I pushed my way through it. Well, it is on to my next race, which at the moment is the Disneyland 5k unless I find something else on a Sat. to run (I am thinking about the Law Day race in Ventura). If your interested here are some pictures, not glamerous by any means but memories are memories. http://www.peeaanuut.com/galle ry/Dole-Race-3-4-06

If you can't laugh at yourself a few times what fun is it. "Way to go thats some achievement onto 10k ? " If I continue my progress I think it might be next year's goal but for right now I am only entering 5ks because I want to improve my time.

Make it a light one though. 2 miles or so. If your running 5ks your regular workouts should vary but be around the 8-10k mark at a non race pace. Than just let it all out during the race. Also, dont forget carbs the night before the race. Usually pasta is great. Also natural sugars the day of the race, like honey, are good for your energy levels. Congrats on the time. Thats a great time for your first race.

You can track your distances and times and how you felt before, during and after. You can see if your having improvement or failures and you will be able to work out the things that cause you to have bad workout days. But overall, the key is to keep getting out there regularly. Especially when you dont want to. Keep it up!
