Someone earlier wondered if I had seen that an effigy of O being was hung on a campus. The difference that I see here is that their was an uproar-it was taken down right away and a scathing article was written. Their seems to be little public outcry and no uproar that an effigy of Palin is hung. The person who made that called it art-I call it an act against women everywhere.

It's inappropriate and incites the spirit of violence which is like a cancer in America these days.

If one is out in public with crazy talk then it's open season be the figure is in a wheelchair, woman, elderly, young male or black. It's not funny to me because it looks so juvenile but I can see how that 'artist' is enjoying his creation.

In the other thread, she was certain that if Obama had ever been hung in effigy, we'd never hear the end of it - either here or in the media. When it was pointed out that Obama HAD been hung in effigy earlier, but that it hadn't made a big stink (obviously, as she'd never even heard of it), she creates a new thread to try to claim somehow that the Palin thing is "worse." What's wrong with saying that both are tasteless and similar? Does EVERYTHING have to come down to "oh yeah? Well you guys are worse." ??

I don't see how we can help that. It's not like it's our fault. We're just stating the obvious. This candidates in effigy thing is silly, though. I just watched a local news report about it. They interviewed several neighbors - in West Hollywood, mind you - and all but one were opposed to it (including a black guy who was REALLY opposed). The city government is trying to come up with a legal way to force its removal without violating that annoying free speech thingy, and the US secret service is investigating the perps. Meanwhile, in rural Pennsylvania, they're passing out pitchforks. And that situation won't be going away on November 1st.

The new thread was started because the original thread was deleted for fear of the CNN link that looked like it had a virus. Wrong again DB-what a surprise. And you are not well informed if you think that the O effigy was not a big stink-try some reading why dontcha. >>>"What's wrong with saying that both are tasteless and similar"<<< Said that-you do read don't you? >>>"Does EVERYTHING have to come down to "oh yeah? Dems demonstrated that very sentence of >>>""oh yeah? I'd put Dabob's knowledge up against yours any day of the week. Over the years he has consistently shown himself to be articulate and that he thinks things through before posting. But I understand why you felt the need to start a second thread and have the old one removed -- you looked pretty silly presupposing how Democrats would react to Obama being hung in effigy, when in truth they behaved no such way, as the linked article illustrated. Whoops. Your attempt to reframe the argument here isn't going much better, by the way.
