Why dont we have a policy for every election, in every town in America that requires a positive ID to be able to vote?

I have rarely been asked to identify myself to vote. Occasionally I am asked for my voter information packet, but how do they know it's mine? I have never been asked for ID.

And, why don't we have some way to identify when we have already voted? Heck even in Iraq they had the purple finger ink. One person, one vote.

I guess the verification isn't worth the time and effort at the polls. Maybe the majority of the fraud comes in registration and not in showing up to vote?

They can't get illegals to vote as easy if they have to show ID.

Wow, that's my complaint with people who won't let the people have a vote on what marriage is. Didn't over 73% of the people in GA vote to ban same sex marriage until a judge told them to go pound sand?

One of the two recipients this year, Alberto Mora, is a Republican.

    That doesn't make it right.

So far, I haven't seen any good reason why we don't ID to vote.

The other line of mine was a good reason, makes voting accessible for people who don't have an ID card. I got a little cheapo easy-to-forge voter card when i registered years ago that they said to keep in my wallet which they've never asked to see. I suppose poll watchers use it as a challenge device in troubled precincts.

Nah, not much of a Rodeo guy. Plus we've got Job's Daughters installations this weekend.

At our polling place, and I have no frame of reference from anywhere else, they have an official registered voter roster for the voters expected at that polling place. My name is on the list because I've registered and showed ID when I did that. I did not just walk in and write my own name down and say, "hey, I'm here to vote!" They did cross check my name on the list and have me sign the roster next to my name. Are there really places where there isn't even a list of legally registered voters and anyone can just walk in and say, "I'm here to vote! Gimme a ballot!!" !!??! I don't have a big problem with them not checking ID's when they have the registered voter roster. That said, I brought my ID with me and would have gladly provided it if asked. And I'm a Democrat! <GASP!> A Democrat who is alright with asking for ID?!?!? Unheard of!!!
