Turns out that the economic crisis is because of our moral collapse as a nation and our refusal to live up to our strong "Christian" principles on which we were founded. The Oklahoma state legislature is so convinced, in fact, that they've introduced a resolution specifically calling out this moral collapse, led by the President, for causing all our problems.

You can't make this stuff up, folks. And here I thought the Utah state legislature was the most embarrassing legislature in the country.

    2. This resolution perpetuates the lie (I've read it elsewhere) that Obama "has refused to uphold the long held tradition of past presidents in giving recognition to our National Day of Prayer."

I wish Obama hadn't celebrated the National Day of Prayer, but he did. It's true that he didn't make a big production out of it, but that's something that only goes back one administration and is hardly a "long held tradition."

And doesn't THAT just make me feel all warm and fuzzy.

Of course, the economic crisis was largely the fault of deregulation mostly championed by the same party that voted through this resolution, but hey - why take responsibility when there's a good scapegoat out there?

And speaking of traditional scapegoats, the fact that they held up "Christian" principles rather than the more common term (these days) of "Judeo-Christian" principles makes me think these people may have more than a bit of anti-semitism lurking under the surface along with the homophobia (two things that often go together, I've found, with certain people who insist loudly about how "Christian" they are).
