More legislation. That's what we need.

    What I found interesting was...

"In October, the Walt Disney Co. said it is phasing out trans fats and establishing guidelines that include limits on calories, fat, saturated fat and sugar in its licensed foods and at theme park restaurants."

    A fat-free Monte Cristo, anyone??

I've been to the Park several times since October and I've not noticed any difference. But, looks like it's just in the beginning phase. Although, I remember a thread not too long ago about the bland popcorn being served at DL.

Anyway, as I stated, another bill will not prevent obesity.

    Top-tier agenda items......huh??
I can think of a couple of other items that should be a few 'tiers' above this one.
Now, I know that childhood obesity is a problem. But, c'mon.
And, no, I'm not linking this article to bash Democrats.
I just think that it's silly to proclaim/assume that this will change the eating habits of chubby little kids.

I'm sure people didn't think that anti-smoking legislation would have any effect on smoking rates when the first laws were passed.

now it's all "why can't I get half portions people??" instead of having to be charged a plate sharing fee.. sigh people overeat for a lot of reasons but the food industry really isn't doing anything to help us chubby chicks...

Another ex: we had a CM laugh at my mom when she asked for a 'to go' box so she wouldn't eat the rest of her dinner. She had to ask for it like 2 or 3 times then he said "I thought you were joking!"

uh, nope. Sure it seems a bit off, but if that's how my mom has to do it.. then that is what she does. (me I usually cut my food in half and see how full I am, after finishing half).

It was definitely cheaper than eating at Mimi's or someplace else where I'd be obliged to ge more than the french onion soup. ;)

There's fat in a Monte Cristo?? Why wasn't I informed.

It doesn't matter what the government does, if people don't take responsibility for themselves. It would be nice if companies were forced into offering low fat/0-trans fat items, but their addition won't make people any thinner if they don't do it for themselves.
