Which means they cannot wear clothes or carry bookbags or school supplies that portray a fantasy character. Part of the realism thing I guess. Its kind of odd to me. actually it seems as stupid as the no trapper keeper or peechee rules at some schools.

And the school has every right to decide what the students and staff wear. I've mentioned this before but my dad is a Principal for a public school here in Milwaukee. Most of these schools don't have a dress code. However, my dad did impliment a dress code policy. Nothing strict like this, but the clothing does have to be appropriate.

When I was a kid, we got assigned to a particular public school based on where we lived. As far as I know, the choices were that school or a private school. I don't think there was an option to send us to a different public school. Has that changed? I don't have kids myself, so I don't know how things work these days.

Attendance boundries were redrawn, and high schools were given "magnet programs" -- one high tech & multimedia, another performing and visual arts, etc., to attempt to balance out the school population. So moving to a different school would be difficult at times based on overcrowding, and sometimes not an option at all. It was a huge, contentious issue here.

Business casual, I only wear a tie about two-three times a year. I think I own the most pair of beige khaki pants in the world, though today I went with the Sunday Tiger Woods look, black pants, red polo shirt.
