I have zero control over any of these things. And yet every time I fire up the news I want to tear out my own heart and beat myself to death with it because it sounds less painful than being a good citizen and following the news.

Well, in defense of, I dunno, somebody? the major dump has little to do with the debt ceiling nonsense, and a lot to do with Europe running out of road to kick the can down.

Amazingly, there WAS economic news going on outside of Washington, DC this past month. Not that our media, lamestream and otherwise, considered it worthy of significant airtime.

I don't have much of an opinion on the market. I don't play that game. I have NEVER played that game; I don't trust it. Buying and selling stocks/bonds just isn't tangible enough for me.
I concern myself with other types of financial creatures----those that I can affect and control far more than some distant company. I gravitate toward things that have intrinsic value like real property, birds and boats.

I heard a lot of people give their opinion on what happened yesterday and I honestly don't know what to believe any more.

    Better? No. Acclimate. Yes.

How many times in the past 30 years have we asked, "Can it get any worse?" Only to find out, yes it can.

That's why I've retired from partisan debate for the most part. I hide in the ivory tower of academia and report my unbias findings. It's the only way I've found to stay marginally sane amongst this sea of fools.

....correct; but I don't have accounts like those, nor have I ever had. I only trust financial creatures that have **INTRINSIC** value, that way if something catastrophic goes down I should still have some kind of means.
