In their eyes, Bush didn't create the recession; he supposedly inherited it from Clinton. So Republicans inherit stuff from previous Dem administrations and are off the hook. But Dems aren't given the same courtesy because, well, they're Dems. They're in office right this very minute, so it's obviously all their fault. I caught Paul Ryan on Meet the Press yesterday and there he was on my television repeating the same old lies.... er, I mean tired talking points that Obama doesn't want to do anything about the government's "runaway" spending. I had to resist the urge to throw socks at his face on the screen.
Originally Posted By RoadTrip Politifact changed it's rating on that from True to Partly True. Apparently there was some creative use of the term "discretionary spending" involved. Obama's spending is still quite low... way lower than the Republicans give him credit for. But not quite as low as the "facts" presented in the link indicate.
