Crazy to think that in two weeks time I will be heading back to TDL and TDS!

ORWEN: I was so happy to see all the characters dancing down Main Street on the way to Cinderella's Castle. The little ceremony they had in front of the castle was very nice. So many other ducklings were crowded around to watch everything--

ORGOCH: --there weren't no room left fer a fat witch like yerself, I noticed.

ORWEN: Shut up, old biddy! Not even a nasty tempered old crone like YOU can spoil my good mood today. I was so happy to see that Rapunzel now has her parking section in the new Hero's and Villains parking lot--not that we'll ever be able to park there 'cause we always fly in on brooms. But for all the Rapunzel fans out there who DO driver cars, you now have a hairy place to park!!

ORDDU: Happy Fortieth Birthday, Magic Kingdom!!!

ORWEN: Well, it probabaly was a glorious day for us on 8/1/11. But I really don't remember for sure.

ORGOCH: I think I had a hangover on 8/1/11. On 10/1/11 I was just gittin' high on Pixie dust!

It is not Pressler or Harris running WDW in 2011, so there are no excuses here. Having watched the castle ceremony on youtube, it left a really bad taste in my mouth. What I find insulting more than anything is how they believe the little castle ceremony is such a wonderful tribute.. The fact that clueless Meg left the stage as soon as her phoney spiel ended.. shows how much management cares.
I also found it ironic that having paraded the logos of anniversary events from the past did not teach them anything.. but the preshow served more as a reminder of how magical these events used to be as opposed to them doing NOTHING now. Adding a few perimeter pyro to "Wishes" was not all that a special thing since they do perimeter pyro for paid for parties and a couple of holidays a year.

Let's see.. for the 40th, there is no year long celebration, no special 40th related decor, no new parade, no new castle show, no CM wearing a special 40th nametag design, no new firework spectacular, no... NOTHING. Just "special" overpriced merchandise that banks on reproductions of memorabilia.. and even that merchandise was ill researched as it does not represent designs from opening day but more of the mid 70s to early 80s.. I would hardly call a "Casey's Corner" pin in a commemorative box a "special" souvenir, when we all know the real name of that location on opening day was "Coke's Corner". That is just one example. And so they go on with marketing mistakes and poor research on their part... but the ultimste goal here is to make money off the people who don't know any better and from younger fans who do not really know the history of WDW but somehow see themselves as true Disney "fanatics". Someone explain that one to me.

The whole Oct 1st day at the MK was a huge "FAIL" IMHO. Just one more example of how WDW has lost it's magic and how lazy management has become, and how profecient they are at offering a walmart experience at Norstrom's prices. But I can't blame them for not knowing who their current fanbase is.. at least they gave out free cupcakes.
