This happened to their own daughters, not some stranger or some girl they just know from church. It suggests an antiquated, but all too common idea in conservative religions, that boys just can't control themselves and so girls need to be modest and pure and all of that. Josh Duggar just made a "mistake" and God forgives and all that. Huckabee just told his base exactly what they wanted to hear. The guys who know they can't win Iowa (Bush, and people like Pataki, Christie and Kasich if they run) will probably eschew that kind of thing and focus on NH. And yet with so many people pandering to the far right fundies, an attitude like "well, that's between him and his church" can actually seem "moderate" among GOP voters as a whole - I don't see anyone with the guts to CALL OUT fundy hypocrisy like this (or on any other issue).
