    Now..

Isn't that a little odd when the REAL CoP is in horrible condition, hasn't been updated since 1994, and is in a HUGE needs of help? (NOT the wrecking ball, let's not go there...)

Well, one part of me says, GREAT, maybe they'll actually be giving it some attention, as they seem to want to keep it in the public mind.

But another part of me says that this is just the typical Disney PR name, it's meant to entrance fanboiz and Disney Historians, and we should think nothing of it.

the typical disingenuous reusing of past good will to broker short term acceptance.

Unless they actually make this a medium to help the COP.

    ----

Wasn't sure where to put this, as Social Media is related, but not totally, COP has been in the news, but that thread is gone, so hooray, new thread. :) Just a thought, and certainly a place to discuss the event that is sure to be D23.

Because we all know that non events are events too.

Actually, that's the name for the Parks and Resorts exhibit space this year. The arena presentation is simply being called "Walt Disney Parks and Resorts," but that is indeed where any new projects will be announced, if things are done the way they were at the first Expo.

Since the inaugural Expo had "the magic portal," I am curious if they will indeed incorporate something that will remind visitors of the attraction.

Isn't that the same thing? Or did I mistake this as something different?

Either way, it's still use of the COP name, and idea...

That's easy to see by the posts in the hundreds on threads recently occupying unlimited space in LP.

Changing in what way? In the face that it doesn't have content to back it up? Or in the fact that they are actually using GOOD attractions and branding for this?

    That's another issue, too.

That is indeed rather strange. But I wonder how much the people who came up with the name really do know about the CoP. It's mainly a look at the history of progress. And I surely hope that this exhibition whill not be about the history of projects, but more about the present and the future of projects at WDP&R.

When you bring up the CoP to folks in SoCal, they only conjure up mental images of the 1960's version at Disneyland in sparklingly maintained condition and operated by an attractive and smiling Size 8 hostess in a polyester miniskirt. They don't think of the 2011 version in Disney World in creakingly embarassing condition smelling fainly of mildew and operated by a borderline morbidly obese host wearing an untailored tent-shirt and living off of payday advances in a Kissimme trailer park.

I'll take the nostalgic SoCal image of the Carousel of Progress over the current Florida reality any day. And that "Carousel of Projects" logo looks too 1960's mod kitsch to pass up! I wonder if they'll have logo glassware to purchase?
