Early voting could use a FastPass

    I cast my ballot yesterday on the last day for "early voting" for next Tuesday's primary election in Texas. Voter turnout was unprecedented. The polls closed at 7pm, and I got there at 6:15pm. It took 2 hours 45 minutes before I got to the front of the line, and the line behind me probably 45 minutes still to go, so the polls probably didn't finish until nearly 3 hours after closing time (they cut off the line at 7pm, and let everyone already there by that time vote). And it's not even election day yet.

    Based on my one small sample piece of data, and what's going on in the news, especially for the Democrats, next Tuesday could have record turnouts in Texas and Ohio.

    The turnout at my voting location seemed overwhelmingly Democrat, and I'd guess that most voters were Obama supporters. Clinton had the most as far as volunteers holding signs and passing out literature. Although the area of town where the voting location was would naturally lean Democrat, the papers are saying that the turnout for Democrats state-wide is much higher than Republicans, with Democrat turnout being something like 3x what it typically is during voter turnout. We'll have to see if this carries forward to election day.
