ORWEN: Well, Gurgi was out and about a few times beyond that first day, actually, but he's the only one of us from the film that managed to survive past that first day. And even HE isn't allowed to be seen any more. (sigh)

ORGOCH: Always gotta' be moanin' 'n groanin' 'bout the past, don'tchas?!

ORGOCH: Only smart thing ya ever said in yer life, sister!

ORWEN: Well, I'm not quite so ready to forgive! If it hadn't been for YOU, old biddy, the rest of us could have been STARS by now!! Instead, here we are on Laughing Place--reduced to the status of second-class 'has beens'--ashamed to show our faces in public--all because you couldn't control a nasty temper when a man on Main Street mistook us for cleaning women and wanted us to clean up horse droppings that were accidentally left on Main Street!! If I had it to do all over again, I'd have cleaned up after the horses, myself, just to make sure we still had a future with Disney!!

ORDDU: Anyway, DLFAN1979, all is not lost. Taran, Eilonwy, Gurgi, Hen Wen, Dalben and the rest of the Black Cauldron gang continue to live somewhat happily ever after--as long as we manage to avoid encounters with the Horned King and his evil minions.

ORWEN: And, if you keep your eyes open, you actually WILL see us Cauldron gals at the park from time to time. Doobie actually ran into us at Epcot a few years back and we posed with him in a couple of pictures!

I'd love to find any other photos of the character costume too...

ORWEN: We were also the first Disney animated film to be made without any songs in it. The producer, Joe Hale, was badly influenced by critics who had bad-mouthed other animated films for being musicals. Mr. Hale wanted to try something different--so he wouldn't allow any songs to be included in BLACK CAULDRON--even though we tried to talk him out of such a bad idea.

(Of course, the way Disney does things today, using the other books they could have made streight to video sequels)I think the animation is gorgeous and life like, and the characters very likable. Even the witches had character! And beauty, really! (Whew, avoided getting turned into a toad there)

The Prydain books were my favorite as a kid, and may still be today.
