It's the same with those losers who parade their daughters at beauty pagents

They were gyrating on the floor, and wearing skimpy outfits too. The parents in the audience were gasping at what they saw though. Obviously the routine was approved though, and this was the 70's. I do wonder what people are thinking when they do stuff like this, but it's not just a product of this generation.

While my studio was much more modest, I have seen many girls like the ones in the video. First I'd like to say, dance competitions aren't anything like what I saw in Little Miss Sunshine or beauty pagents. It's based on pure dance talent, choreo, & costume. Second, these little girls are amazing dancers. Their a la secondes & pirouettes are better than what I've seen 11 year olds to. Their teachers & these girls are amazing. Third, Their costumes cover up way more than what I see even toddlers wear to the pool & lake. Costumes are chosen specifically to co-ordinate to the song/lyrics, but also so some of the dance moves "appear" more clearly. Fourth, this dance should have never been posted to the general public. It should have stayed where it belonged, at the dance competition & between family members. It's a pedophiles dream & should have never been posted public. Finally, I personally wouldn't want my daughter doing those gyrating moves, but obviously these parents are ok with it. I always kept my daughter out of hip-hop classes just because gyrating is a major part of this urban style of dance. I think it all boils down to parents choice & keep it off the net & only on the stage. Funny thing is, from what I've noticed, the skimpier the costumes & more risque the moves, the higher the kids score. I know a few of the competitions actually will knock points for inappropiate costuming, lyrics or moves. Spotlight Dance Cup is one of the many who has adopted this. Maybe there needs to be some of this negative energy to this style of dancing put into promoting these values.
