Following her selection last month as John McCain's running mate, aides said Palin had traveled to Ireland, Germany, Kuwait, and Iraq to meet with members of the Alaska National Guard. During that trip she was said to have visited a "military outpost" inside Iraq. The campaign has since repeated that Palin's foreign travel included an excursion into the Iraq battle zone.

But in response to queries about the details of her trip, campaign aides and National Guard officials in Alaska said by telephone yesterday that she did not venture beyond the Kuwait-Iraq border when she visited Khabari Alawazem Crossing, also known as "K-Crossing," on July 25, 2007.

Asked to clarify where she traveled in Iraq, Palin's spokeswoman, Maria Comella, confirmed that "She visited a military outpost on the other side of the Kuwait-Iraq border."

It was the second such clarification in as many weeks of the itinerary of what Palin has called "the trip of a lifetime." Earlier, the campaign acknowledged that Palin made only a refueling stop in Ireland.<<

Perhaps. It's politics. I seem to remember something about Hillary thinking she was under fire when landing in Iraq. Turned out to be nothing but a bad dream I guess...

What will you get? Different lies. And maybe that is all you want. But all politicians lie. Sad but true. The best president of my lifetime (Bill Clinton) was probably the biggest liar of all.

Clinton's lies didn't get American troops killed and cost our nation $250M a day.

If you truly feel that way I feel very, very sad for you.

How exactly can you presume to know so very much about Palin? She's a complete unknown to the rest of us, and even the little bits and pieces that keep coming out are a confused jumble.

And yet you speak of her as though you've known about her and her way of governing for the longest time, are confident about how she'll act in different situations, and (like above) know exactly where she'll fit in the grand scheme of competence such that you can tell someone else you feel sad for them because she'll be what? Better than Bush?

So far I see no evidence of that.

Anyone would be better than Bush.

I don't know where I've said she would be a fantastic president. I've said that politically she was absolutely the best choice McCain could have made, but that is a whole different thing.

She appears to be a very competent individual and I think that while she doesn't have a great deal of experience; it is probably equal to Obama's. The main thing I'm doing here is to try and counteract a few of what I feel are very unfair slams at her. Among other things, good God, what possible difference does it make that she was in a picture with a dead moose?

You may not believe this, but there are very many states, Minnesota being one of them, where hunting is an expected and celebrated activity. When folks dump on her for that they come off as the hoity-toity big-city liberals that conservatives claim their critics are.

You could be right. The stunt was incredibly irresponsible and I hope the worst doesn't come to pass..but still it's a stunt and sometimes those work out well.

I used to say that, but that was all rhetoric. There aremany people of this country that would be far worse than Bush. I think the GOP found one.

I don't have THAT low an opinion of her.

I think it takes a special talent to be as lousy a President as W. So far as I can tell, Palin doesn't have any special talents that don't involve the slaughter of large mammals.
