Apparently they're a little ticked off at being told the bible doesn't say anything about taking care of the sick and the poor.

How disingenuous. It's the HOW to help the poor that is argued, not the need to care for them.

Ummm...then you haven't listened to Glenn Beck lately. Glenn Beck has been saying some pretty outrageous things that a lot of faith based organizations, even conservative Christian ones, have been pretty shocked about. He has basically been saying that Jesus did not really preach helping the poor and things like that.

I know there is a difference in liberal and conservative circles about the best way to help people but that is not what the group in the article is protesting...they are protesting the Beckster comparing people helping the poor to Nazis and things like that.

Josh, next time you're in Salt Lake or Provo, go to Sam Wellers or BYU Bookstore, pick up the latest copy of Sunstone, and read Bob Rees' article on Glenn Beck.

It's imminently fair (Rees is an active member in California) but shows just how wrong-headed and dangerous (and un-Mormon) Beck really is.

Not really. He engaged in a lot of guilt by association, hyperbole, and other logical fallacies. He also demonstrated a terribly deficient knowledge of American history. By Beck's definitions, Dwight D. Eisenhower was a socialist.

Yet you've read the stuff that's been said about him here and yet you still weren't sure that the man has a screw loose?

Either way, the fact that he's considered a legitimate pundit for the GOP is what finally drove me away.

The article I referred Josh to made a great point: Does Glenn Beck really believe what he says? Either answer is deeply disturbing.
