Do they still have all the stuff in the lobby?

If yes, I would, for purely selfish reasons, like it all to stay so I could see it again on my next visit.

Walt's old furniture is only slightly more tired than the lincoln figure - old stiffs from a bygone era whose only appeal is nostalgia. Nostalgia's easy to come by, especially in disneyland.

I'd rather see what else they can come up with - hopefully something better than another film.

How I wish they would work in a changing exhibition of items submitted by collectors. By the time one gets tiring, bring in a whole new collection. I would be honored to see something that I owned in there, after all, half the fun of collecting is sharing it with others.
Regarding Mr. Lincoln, while being a truly significant part of the history of the park, he is no longer the marvel that he once was, but out of nostalgic devotion, I would hate to see him replaced.

Perhaps surprisingly, I agree. The Opera House building is a very large piece of real estate that could be used for a much more exciting (and relevent) attraction. I don't believe for a SECOND Walt himself would've liked the idea of a shrine to himself at the front of Disneyland, much less something from the 60's like Lincoln (which was really just a tech demo) STILL operating in 2007. Both attactions need to go.

C'mon Disney.... there's a lot of space there. Give us something new and exciting!

The Tiki Room gets more guests and is one fifth the size.
However, unless they could put something in there that would be of interest to all of us, and not just the twenty and under Disney Channel crowd, I would rather it stayed just like it is.

    If that can't happen, how about something original . . . .

like "Pirates of Main Street" by PIXAR.

That's about as original as things get nowdays (sigh).

I agree that Walt Disney would almost certainly not have wanted a personality driven "shrine" to himself placed in Disneyland. There are, however, many, many of his admirers who are pleased that he is being acknowledged in the park that he designed and enjoyed.

Walt would almost certainly want to see Mr. Lincoln included in Disneyland. The original show was far from a "tech demo," having perfromed for countless visitors at the New York World's Fair. The Disneyland show "Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln" actually used a second generation figure, and ran simultaneously with the New York version for several months.

Walt was a great admirer of Lincoln. He also believed that entertainment could be used to inform and enlighten. Mr. Lincoln is a prime example of this.

That said, I have long held that the Main Street Opera House is a very large footprint for this particular attraction. I appreciate that the most recent reimagining of the show made it clear that Disney was willing to make a major commitment to one of Walt's favored attractions. I hope that there will always be a place for Mr. Lincoln in Disneyland.
