None of my business, but I want to know why!

The bill is designed to make it easier for lesbian and gay couples to have children through assisted reproduction, recognising same-sex partners as legal parents of babies conceived through donated sperm, eggs or embryos.

Of course, cos this will happen a LOT because of "the gays".

It doesn't surprise me at all that twins would find each other and recognize each other as soul mates. I see my boy/girl twins and the incredible depth of their relationship amazes me. Their brains connect on a level we outsiders will never really understand. It's a fascinating miracle.

But sex? Ick. Let's not even think about that.

Well, getting married will minimize the whole sex deal.

It is possible that they were "extra" embryos and thus given to other couples/women.

How else can they have them?

    >>recognising same-sex partners as legal parents of babies conceived through donated sperm, eggs or embryos.<<

Which, of course, would deny the child either a mother or a father.

There have been cases in the U.S. where "donors" end up being on the hook for child support, usually because the custodial parent(s) hit(s) rough times or die. Anyone who donates runs this risk. Might seem like a great idea to a college kid to get paid to **** off, but there can be unforeseen circumstances.

For many guys, this is no joke. They tell their unmarried buddies about it, and those guys become "afraid of commitment." With unmarried sex not carrying the shame and societal pressures it used to, guys can find sex quite easily without getting married or even spending a lot of time with a woman. If these guys also happen to see marriage as nothing more than a "piece of paper" that obligates them financially in the event of a divorce since most women marry men who earn more then they do, then the guys are even more averse to marriage.

I really can't say I know any guys who were put off on marriage by hearing the joking of their married friends but I'm not ruling out the rare possibility. I think most of these guys that avoid marriage have other issues that contribute.

I think you were a little harsh in 3/2, I interpreted her post as being very insightful. I have heard of too many stories of twins or regular siblings that were separated early in life, met up with each other at some point and became very close. There does seem to be a genetic bond that maybe is not fully understood at this time. Like 3/2, I'm not comfortable with the idea of sibling sex, we were raised with the concept of it as a social taboo. She was certainly not saying that sex is "ick" and placed no blame on the twins as neither of them had any way of knowing they were related.

    >>to see marriage as nothing more than a "piece of paper"<<

sadly, you can't limit this to just guys. There are plenty of women who are guilty of the same.

True story: when we were about 12 or 13 we were sitting around with friends on lazy summer afternoon, and for some reason we were all talking about what our first memory was. Our friends related theirs one by one. Then my sister started with hers, which was in the crib we shared, and my parents were giving a party, and she wanted to go check it out...

I took over and finished her thoughts... oh yeah, and I said I was too tired and just wanted to sleep, but you kept harping at me and said we should make noise and get Mom to come in and get us...

She took over: yeah, but you said she'd probably just come in and quiet us down but wouldn't bring us to the party, and besides, you really just wanted to sleep anyway...

We definitely shared this same memory. We later told my Mom about it, and from the details of the crib, which we didn't share for too long before getting separate ones, and the timing of the party, which my parents didn't give often with twin babies and a two-year old at home, we figured it had to have been a Christmas party my parents threw when we were - 7 months old. Before we could talk.

I don't know how we communicated, but we did, and remembered it identically, as a conversation. Weird but true.
