    Cruise 'is Christ' of Scientology

    By EMILY SMITH
    US Editor
    January 23, 2007

    >> Tom Cruise is the new “Christ†of Scientology, according to leaders of the cult-like religion.

The Mission: Impossible star has been told he has been “chosen†to spread the word of his faith throughout the world.

And leader David Miscavige believes that in future, Cruise, 44, will be worshipped like Jesus for his work to raise awareness of the religion.

Gee, and all this time I thought he was just another over-indulged movie star.

But if it's true... expect Cruise's career to go into free fall. You just don't compare yourself (or even have others compare you to) "the big J" and not suffer consequences with a lot of people in America.

I still remember watching the 'Chipmunks' cartoon when I was a kid and Alvin came and said, 'We're bigger than Mickey Mouse!' Where is Alvin, Simon and Theodore NOW while Mickey has just built another church in Hong Kong??? ;D

Tom Cruise could conceivably be their Paul, a man who saw the light, converted, and then spread the message even further than the founder.

Well, if the story IS true, all it's saying is that Church leaders have said that Cruise will be recognized for remaining true to his faith.

It's not so hard to believe that Scientology upper-ups may have said that.

And it's not hard to believe that they have lauded him in an effort to ensure that he remains publically faithful. If I were the Church of Scientology, I would recognize that Tom Cruise might have started to view his connection to the Church as a potential career liability. If I were the Church, I'd be worried about that. I would do all I could to keep him as an active advocate. If that means heaping on the praise, so be it. Cruise is flailing. Let's do all we can to keep him from renouncing the Church in his effort to get grounded.

    (No pun intended.)

No "mea culpa" here. It's all thanks to the Catholic Church's pogram, not anything *I* did.

But I digress. We were talking about the various methods by which the Church of Scientology would ensure that Tom Cruise remains an active supporter of their ridiculous doctrine, weren't we?
