This isn't what Kathy "Jolly" Rogers said in an interview - "They look like they've always been there," Rogers said. "You're not saying `Oh, they put that movie thing there'."

To me it looks I see a big clash with the new style and the old. This just smells of movie promotion and marketing to me and of jumping the shark. I guess both sides see things differently.

    >>All of the original pirates are rounded and happy. Nothing against Johnny Depp, but he just has an angular look to him. It would be like trying to fit the Land pavilion from Epcot into Toontown. It might make sense, but it just doesn't blend very seamlessly.<<

We have all read the differing opinions. And I for one can see both sides of the discussion. But starting yet ANOTHER new topic just to re-hash what has already been said in other topics??? C'mon, I KNOW you are better than that.

If you must, just say it over and over out loud until you get it out of your system.

"I am a purest, and I hate the changes to POTC!"

You will feel better, trust me! :p

But do they need to start multiple threads on the same topic. This isnt the first POTC thread IT has created.

I remember that the films are copying the ride. So they are blending in okay, if not great.

Walt would not tear down the Castle in Disneyland to put up a castle from Disney's Narnia or from Harry Potter if he bought the rights. The smart thing to do is put in in another area or land and not tamper with a classic Disney landmark. Walt would do magic with a new ride or attraction in it's proper place.

DCA or Animal Kingdom or Hong Kong Disneyland would be a better place for something like Hogwart's Castle. You don't fix what works and what aint broke.

   )

There is no need to guess "what Walt would do." We know what he did. He spent over ten years, right up until the day he died, making changes to Disneyland. He had all of Tomorrowland torn up and rebuilt twice!

Walt also championed attractions that were based on films, even ones that did not "age well." Swiss Family Robinson leaps to mind. How about Third Man on the Mountain?

Based on what I know (not on what I think or imagine), I find it highly doubtful that Walt would have wanted an attraction to remain exactly the same for over thirty years. And I believe he would have been tickled that his studio's hit film series meshed so well with one of his great, great attractions.

If you follow the lead of Walt Disney, you keep looking for ways to "plus" things. Pirates of the Caribbean has definitely been plussed.

Uh...last time I checked, Eisner had nothing to do with this POTC update. Why do you attribute it to him?

Also, it does NO good to guess what Walt would do. He's dead, and the company is an entirely different animal now. You can use some of his philosophies that we know he practiced, but to guess is just dumb. That's what happend after he died and the studio and parks cranked out "safe" because they tried guessing.
