But really, how likely are the Arabs who invest in the U.S. to support terrorism against the U.S.? Unless they are running some sort of insurance scam, do you think they want their investment harmed?

So let's say that your landlord is ultimately an Arab. So what? If you're a U.S. citizen, you still have a private vote at the ballot box, and can still support the Constitution, as opposed to sharia law.

In general, the more other parts of the world build up their economy, the better it is for everyone. It does us no good to have people living on the other side of the planet in squalor, not producing any goods or services to trade with us. In general, it means the pie is getting bigger, not that our slice of the pie is getting smaller overall.

I don't think it's a good idea to sell our infrastructure to foreign investment. The dubai ports deal is the prime example. Our ports are critical to the effective functioning of our nation and our economy. It's unwise to surrender control and security and ownership of such a vital link to outside interests. Why would we do such a thing - for money? To look after the economic well-being of our friends in the middle east? I'll put our own economic well-being ahead of other nations.

    Why - where's he going?

I have no idea what prompted jon's dismissal - it must have been on some thread I'm not following. But if memory serves, he was given a 'time out' before and he eventually showed up again. I might be biased, but this board is measureably better in many regards to other disney sites. He'll be back one day - if he can.
