Why does everything - from Utah liberalizing its drinking laws to Iowa, a state with like 12 Mormons, moving toward gay marriage always have to include Mormon bashing. No, let me be more accurate ... consist almost entirely of Mormon bashing - on these threads. Whether it was integrating universities in the South, affirmative action for women and minorities, bussing in Boston, protecting spotted owl habitat in the Pacific Northwest or demanding ADA compliance, the "and if you don't like it, well tough" attitude hasn't exactly been a positive addition to the national dialogue. Can't we just be happy we won this round?

While I understand where you're coming from, the Mormons didn't insert themselves in the oher issues you mentioned, but more to the point, the LDS has made a point of starting this argument, so when others want to finish, I can't blame them. Utahjosh's clueless "Quite rude" illustrates the point perfectly. This guy apparently truly does not see how the instrusion of his overbearing religion is any kind of a burden on those who did not seek their involvement. He whines about a lack of respect for his point of view, yet this is exactly what the complaint is from gays, that the Mormons have no respect for them, either. The Mormons want it all one-sided, and life just isn't that way. It's like I said in post 4- they should just shut up about the criticism and disgust that comes their way because they invited it by sticking their noses where they don't belong. The irony here is that if not for the Mormons invading California on Prop 8, many of these others states might not have seen the urgency to do what they're doing now.

This is a perfect example of what I was talking about in post 4. They did indeed start this with when they picked a fight in California. They truly do not understand what they've done, who they've done it to, and the damage they will eventually sustain because of it. The Mormons should have stayed home and minded their own business. This is what moral righteousness gets you. To keep this on topic, as I said in the earlier post, had they not down this, it's possible the courts in Iowa look at it differently and see no sense of urgency. Same for Vermont. And D.C. And Europe. And everywhere else.......

See if you can even possibly imagine how gays feel about your religion attacking them for something about themselves they cannot control whatsoever, and then get back to us about feeling bad.
