I just got a BluRay player last night along with a disc of "UP". The enhanced visuals are pretty spectacular.

I have started a "want list" but am drawing a blank as to what would be a greatly enhanced BluRay experience.

So far I think I would like to own TITANIC, CRANK, the POTC trilogy and NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS.

I would love to add other amazing looking movies to my BluRay must have list - has anyone recently rented or purchased a movie that blew your socks off?

I saw it on regular format - I bet all of the shooting looks great. I shall add that to my list. Thanks!

I think the first disc I got that really made me glad to own my Blu-ray was the "Justice League: The New Frontier" animated movie. It just bursts from the screen. I am eagerly looking forward to a Blu-ray release of "Finding Nemo." I saw a demo of it, and it almost looked 3D, it was so clear and vibrant.

Warner Bros. did a great job recently with "North by Northwest," especially the sound. I don't have a home theatre setup, but it still sounded great through my TV.

The film purists are not happy with how some studios are treating older films when they're mastered for Blu-ray, though. "Patton," in particular, went through significant noise reduction that removed grain and killed the film-like image. Robert Harris, film restoration expert who worked on the restorations of various classic movies, was particularly vocal about it.

I didn't realize what all the hubbub was about until I bought the "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" set. From my usual viewing distance, I thought, "Wow...this looks really awesome. A bit on the soft side, but it looks *exactly* how I remember it in the theatre." I got up closer to the TV and I could see how grainy it was, just like looking at a film projection up close. I would highly recommend getting this one.

And the TV series -- at least, the first season -- looks great.

Also adding Iron Man. I can't imagine how good the Godfather could look, but might be worth a peek.
