I was able to eat there on Tuesday night (Nov 25th). The wait was only 15 minutes despite crowds in DD -- a clue to how big the place really is.

I would call it a variation of the Rainforest Cafe. The atmosphere was sensory overload -- especially the noise level. There were all kinds of animal sounds, meteor explosions, etc, plus background music, which seemed unnecessary to me.

I was not overly hungry and was afraid of huge portions (a la RC), so I had the chicken salad sandwich. It was just enough for me. A friend had the ravioli, and his portion was very modest (I thought), so there might be a wide variation of portion sizes. More tellingly, his ravioli was not uniformly the same temperature, usually a sign of microwaving.

But the place was entertaining for the children (8 & 6) in our party.

    Any other experiences?

Sorry to say it is not a good one, although a large part of my bad experience was the result of a terrible server.

Is it entirely new--or has it taken the space of some other restaurant there?

I like Rainforest Cafe a lot better, personally, but that may because most of my experience is with the less chaotic Chicago branch.

So you have 1000 or more people with screaming kids, loud music which you could barely hear over the roaring and bellowing of the dinos and every 20 minutes or so, there's a "meteor shower" with explosions etc. Here's a short video that I posted on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...nel_page

There are a few pictures of it as part of the overall review of the restaurant that I posted on my blog a while back:
