for whatever reason the last few times we did mama melrose is was disappointing also and we haven't been back in about 5 years. We usualy do 2 sit downs per day for 10 days ( eat our way thru WDW) - so we hit a lot of restaurants - but service was poor and food was very uninspired and priced way above quality. I am not a big fan of hollywood and vine mainly because the atmosphere to me is less than magical - eating in a warehouse/ soundstage too cold. But on the flip side the food was far better than mama melrose.

I love Brown Derby - although we often do it for lunch - but at least i feel the food quality is worth what I am paying

And that it's almost easier just to book a resturant and then wait in line for the show. We do the DD plan always since it's just nice having all paid in advance, just hate to waste any of it on resturants not worth as much as others. Thanks again!! Trying to make reservations for next trip!!! :)

The selection wasn't enormous, but certainly enough variety there to please all but the most picky eaters. It was one of the better meals of the trip. Of course, the service was glacially slow, as with all WDW restaurants.

If you are there on a day when they have 2 Fantasmic shows - usually you don't need to do the package - attend the 2dn Fantasmic - less crowded than the first as far as lining up ( usually - nothing is always)
