I think this sucks, obviously. And, along with the absurd Golden Oaks project, shows Disney is all about land development in Central Florida. The idea of an entertainment complex and what that entails is so far behind that I don't know where to even begin.

It will be great when all those trees and natural beauty are gone because you don't expect people to park at WL and FW to get to their new units do you?

God, I do hate DVC ... or what it has done to my beloved WDW.

Of course, the fact that the MK is a godforsaken mess doesn't help ... but at least I only saw a woman on a ventilator spend her last few moments of life there Saturday night and didn't have to witness an eight-year-old get punched in the face by his daddy (in MK's main lot) and dragged across three parking spaces (whether he was even fully conscious I can't say, my friend witnessed and called police who arrested the dirtbag) before throwing him in a van and punching him twice in the mid section while Mom didn nothing.

No, I just dealt with attractions in godawful show condition and a pathetic showing of the MSEP (kill it already) delayed 45 minutes because the 'new' float died and needed towing ... after dining on a taco salad at Pecos Bill Cafe that came with a shell and meat but no salad (REALLY DISNEY??!?! REALLY!??!)

The real world sucks and if folks believe they can escape it at WDW then they must have better prescribed meds than I do ... because you can't possibly think the REAL WORLD hasn't long since invaded your pixie dusted playground.

I hate to be so negative, but I think people really need to wake up and realize our country has gone to hell while they were hanging out online, watching Jersey Shore and American Idol and eating 6000 calories a day ... and that WDW has gone right along for the ride.

Oh, full report to come later ... but Halloween Horror Nights was kinda fun tonight ... if a bit stale as well.

Now ... let's all buy some timeshares because that REALLY is what WDW is all about.

Despite all the nay-saying on this board and others, I think the new DVC tower at the Contemporary looks one helluva lot better than the Motel-6 style wing it replaced. Crap… if Disney is able to sell real estate in the current market more power to them! I just wish they would share their secret with the rest of the United States!

    Good.

Now can you please forward this on to Lou "ALL OF WDW IS AWESOME.....now where's my kickback, Crofton, while I put out another gushing podcast" Mongello at WDW Radio?

HATE that fat little pixie dusted idiot.

Sorry to hear about the sad/horrific incidents you and your friend witnessed...though I can't really say any of *that* has to do with WDW per se...bad stuff happens everywhere including WDW of course.

Take a valium like RT said, and then plan a trip out to Tokyo Disney Resort like you always talk about...quality issues are far better here, and they only sell DVC stuff for elsewhere! :)

Why not expansion that everyone can enjoy, not just members of Disney's private real estate club? Why does everything new at WDW revolve around lodging?

What is going on? I agree we have a right to be concerned. I also find it hard to believe another DVC is needed or even breaking ground at this location. I want to believe it is something else.

    -------

1/ two separate pots of money 2/ DVC brings in more cash to day that anything else they have- now if you want to talk about all that maintenance 50 years from now OK- but today it is a cash cow-- that's why? If people stopped buying them they would stop- but they have continued to seel virtually the same number of units every year even through the recession...

even though the spirit needs an AED right now...they are separate issues- DVC and park enhancements/maintenance.

the second one upsets me too, but it not BECAUSE of DVC... sorry

simple- as I just stated- they are selling the same number of units per year that they were BEFORE the recession....maybe the question should be how ?

it's easy for them to do an extrapolation of needed units based on sales that have been so consistent...and if the economy ever really does turn around-- or they invest more heavliy in the parks they will need more inventory potentially..
this isn't rocket science, it's supply and demand and people have got to separate the pakr issues from DVC building- really, they are separate issues.

Now the land clearing I agree with..better be very careful, not easy to ever put back what you tear down..

    No, they're not.

they are separate budgets under one corporate umbrella-- ESPN also has nothing to do with WDW enhancements.

the money has to come from elsewhere..DVC money also is banked upon for maintenenace and refurb of current buildings, and future maintenance etc. it is NOT for building the next E ticket.

any chance to jump on an issue does not make it correct. I agree the parks could use more maintenance and more attractions - but DVC building affects that not one Iota. Does it affect the landscape- yes absolutely, but that is a separate issue.

In the end it is NOT , one pot of money
