But I wonder whether paying extra for the theme park view is worth it and whether you can see the fireworks from there. It's already expensive as it is, so I just don't know about the extra cost. BUT I have a hip injury that makes it hard for me to sit on the ground or stand for a long time (as in waiting somewhere to see the fireworks). Thoughts?

With the 50th fireworks, though, you really need to be in the park to get the best effect. So much is lost from outside. You might want to look in to a tour with reserved fireworks seating for one night. Or get there early and grab a table on the edge of the patio at the Plaza retaurant.

Theme park view rooms are on the right side and bottom of the map.

DL is across from the DTD or top side of the map.

If you explain to them about your need for this request it might help.If you have trouble walking you will not want to have a long walk back and forth to your room all the time. This room is close to the elevators and it is a different view rate so you might save money. No matter what you will be happy.

To give you an idea, I'm not a huge fireworks fan, in general; I mean, they're fine, but they don't normally do much for me. But with the 50th fireworks show? It makes me cry--every time. It's THAT good.
