Anyway- It is pretty expensive, and I was just wondering if anyone has it already and if it's worth the money. I can't imagine it wouldn't be, but any input about it would be awesome.

Here's an older thread discussing it:

I had one of the LPers to get me a copy when it was sold in the park, as it was a limited edition at the time. This limited edition came with a "gold" record and was numbered to 5000 (numbers 1 and 50 were put on eBay by Disney).

I like all the tracks, and some of the attractions are complete ridethroughs or shows. Some, however, are not, like Splash Mountain and the Fantasyland Dark Ride Medley. Interestingly enough, the track listing and book mentions Snow White's Scary Adventures, but it's actually not included, with Mr. Toad's Wild Ride taking it's place.

The Dark Ride Suite is more of a medley of the soundtracks from the rides' movies. I don't recall that many songs featured in Peter Pan's flight, but I may be wrong. Also, there isn't a lot of soundbites from those attractions.

So why was Snow White omitted again?

The Splash Mountain track is the same one listed on current park soundtrack albums, in which it's just a medley of the songs from the ride. They do get bonus points for including the Burrow's Lament, although it's the original version ("Sooner or Later" with new lyrics) instead of the one we're so accustomed to.

Another LPer nitpicked how It's a Small World is sung during the South Pacific/Hawaiian scenes, when in actuality it's not sung at all. I also noticed that Roger Rabbit's Cartoon Spin appears to be incomplete.

I loved hearing America Sings again and all the classic Tomorrowland attractions that were either before my time or that I was too young to remember.

Obviously not EVERY single song from the parks are on the album. I do recall seeing a Disney fansite where the webmaster actually offered a "complete" soundtrack with *12* CDs instead of 6.

It's a great investment...go out and get it!

So it *IS* "Sooner or Later". I was almost 100% positive that it sounded the same but I couldn't find anything to verify that. Thanks! That's been driving me crazy for several years now. LOL!

But if you love music from the Park (or any of the Disney theme parks), it's definitely a must-have.

Besides, if those suckers don't keep selling, they may think twice about ever releasing sets of theme park music again other than the Offical Albums, so buy one as a sort of insurance policy toward Disney releasing more of this stuff! ;)

I believe they mention that in the book. What I didn't know was that "Burrow's Lament" is "Laughing Place" done in a minor key...kewl...

<<schnebs: I can think of a couple of tracks that should have been added (not even one of the Peoplemover theme songs, guys?).>>

I was hoping that the "actual" Peoplemover track would be included: the 70s elevator music interspersed with soundbites from the various attractions that you were going into (ie C-3PO telling you about Star Tours, The Master Control Program threatening you in Tron).

Here's another one: how about the "soundbites" from New Orleans Square near the restrooms? One of them is a voodoo priest and another is a fortune teller. They're coming from the windows in the building, kind of like the Weasels in the Roger Rabbit queue or the archelogists in the Indy queue.

Now that I think about it, I would have liked to have heard the entire It's a Small World loading/exit dock that's done in about 6 different languages. Someone actually send me the "soundtrack" to the ride which included that spiel, as well as Jack Wagner telling you that the ride will cost an E-ticket.

About 10 years ago, I downloaded all my DL .wav files from The Sounds of Disneyland page. The webmaster is Gwen Smith, and these were all various soundbites from past and present attractions. I was able to put all the Mansion sounds together and make a 2-minute "ride". I also used the Matterhorn "Remain Seated Please" spiel on my voicemail for 5 years.

As it was pointed out, some of the songs can be found on other DL albums, but when you missing the park there is nothing better than listening to the entire ride-through of Pirates of Haunted Mansion during your car rides. I love the set!!

    * Disney's Happiest Celebration On Earth (which is a single-CD version of the previous DLR official album; you may find this one at places like Borders and Barnes and Noble)

    * Disney's Electrical Parade (okay, so it's technically DCA stuff, but still...)

    * Fantasmic! (Be careful when you look for it - you're looking for a version recorded in 1992 that includes the Disneyland version of the show and the Main Street Electrical Parade)

I think you may aslo be able to find Haunted Mansion and Pirates of the Caribbean CDs, which contains audio from those attractions, but I'm not 100% sure if they're still on sale at the DLR. Anything I missed, folks?
