Today is the first day I have multiple lands to cover: Buena Vista Street and Grizzly Peak.

Waiting for the rope the security CM was very entertaining. Once let into the park I headed to GRR to pick up a FP for World of Color. I then headed to Paradise Pier and rode Toy Story. I then decided to ride the Fun Wheel and opted for a swinging car. Next I rode Little Mermaid then on my way to Buena Vista Street I got an ice cream sundae lunch at Ghiridelli's.

I found a shady spot to sit under the Monorail Bridge and waited for the entertainment while I ate my ice cream. I saw the News Boys first and then Five and Dime. With as hot as it is I really hope the performers get to rest between shows in an air conditioned room with cold drinks. In fact I noticed a later performance of the News Boys did not have the Mickey portion. Probably just too hot for someone to dance in that costume.

I was wearing my Newsies hat from New York and got my picture with all the characters on Buena Vista Street. Most of them noticed and mad made big deal of it. And Chip and Dale flirted shamelessly. I also got my picture with the Storytellers statue and put the hat on Mickey.

I rode the Red Car Trolley but we had to get off at Carthay Circle because it made a strange noise. And I spent some time just sitting in Fiddler Fifer and Practical out of the heat.

Now it was time to head over to Grizzly Peak. I went through the Redwood Creek Trail slowly because of the heat. At least it's pretty shady in there. Constance, when you go be careful on the rope bridges. It would be really easy to do some major damage to an ankle on those. Unfortunately you have to be 12 and under to do the zip line.

It was awhile before the next Wilderness Explorer Ceremony so I went and did Grizzly River Run while I waited. I was in a raft with a fun group and I got pretty soaked which felt great. I went to the ceremony but did not get my picture taken with Russell. After, I went on Soarin'. Now I was done with Grizzly Peak as there is no food there.

After this I went over to Disneyland for the flag retreat as it was September 11th and I figured there would be more ceremony. There was. There were a lot more people attending than usual. The Dapper Dans wore their patriotic outfits. They had an honor guard from the LA Fire Department. There were a lot more military people who came up. And they honored all the Security Cast Members, including the dogs, who were all lined up on the steps of the Train Station.

After I went back to DCA and once the parade was finished I went to the Carthay Circle Lounge for dessert. It smelled amazing just walking in there. I ordered a diet coke which came in a fancy glass. Then I had a hard time deciding on which dessert even though there are only two options: an assortment of cake pops or mini mousse cones. I finally opted for the cones. There are three, coconut lemon, chocolate with salted toffee and tiramisu with hazelnut. They were all delicious even the coconut which I don't usually like. But what I don't like about it is the texture and this was really finally grated.

Next I headed to Paradise Pier in preparation for WoC. I got a popcorn bucket. I collect these, and on my last trip I realized I'd never gotten one at DCA before. So that was a priority this trip. Then I rode the Fun Wheel again, this time in a stationary gondola. The view really is amazing up there and the lights were coming on. After I headed over to get my place for WoC. It wasn't bad but it could have been closer. But then I didn't make a point of getting there super early. I played the Fun Wheel Challenge and did pretty well. I enjoyed the show especially the new additions since the last time I saw the regular one.

We were at flag retreat on 9/11 as well. We both cried as they raised the flag from half to full staff before lowering it. I knew that was Flag etiquette but had never actually seen it done.
