So the Mayans think the world will end in 2012? Bueno. Lo que sea. Let someone else go out and buy flashlights and freeze-dried food and scramble to find religion this time. I'ma sit this one out.

    omg.

'Skuze me, but that's FOX NEWS that's reporting the end of the world as "developing."

Huffington Post is merely the conduit for the mirth.

BTW, why DO you visit WE anymore?

It's an opportunity to point and laugh at Fox News. I never miss one.

It was supposed to happen on a particular day, a Saturday I think, in the Spring of 1969. I remember hearing that at least one family in our neighborhood had packed up and headed East for the weekend, just in case.

I think that experience innoculated me against "end of the world" prophecies.

    I absolutely remember that, vividly.

It was "open house night" at my grade school, where the parents come and talk to your teacher, and see projects you're working on, etc. All the kids in the schoolyard were joking that they hoped the prediction was true and CA would fall into the ocean, because that would cancel "open house."

I never did get why night vision goggles and camo gear would be necessary if the world was ending but that is just me.

They gave a lot of that stuff to my friend as a graduation present that June. They are going to be really screwed if the world does end in 2012 and they don't have their 10 years worth of toilet paper.
