Zogby poll: Majority of likely voters support considering impeachment
    over Iraq, 51-45 percent

    11/04/2005

Impeachment support is greater among all adults than likely voters

A new poll of likely voters by Zogby International has found that a majority of Americans support Congress considering the impeachment of President Bush if he “did not tell the truth about his reasons for going to war with Iraq,†RAW STORY has learned.

The poll, to be released this afternoon, finds that 51 percent of likely voters want Congress to eye impeachment, while 45 percent do not.

Among all adults surveyed, the numbers were higher: 53 percent supported impeachment, while 42 percent did not. The poll, which has a +/- 2.9% margin of error, interviewed 1,200 U.S. adults from Oct. 29 through Nov. 2.

Not surprisingly, Democrats supported the consideration of impeachment by a broad margin (76 percent) while Republicans opposed (66 percent). However, 29 percent of Republicans told Zogby pollsters that they supported Congress examining impeachment over Iraq.

Also notable: 46 percent of those who considered themselves "born again" said they would support Congress considering impeachment.

The House of Representatives has the sole authority to impeach a president. Democrats, however, have not touched the issue, and they do not constitute a majority in the chamber.

Zogby last polled likely voters on impeachment in June. At that time, 42 percent supported considering impeachment, while 50 percent opposed.

Another poll of American adults conducted in early October by Ipsos, the agency used by the Associated Press, found that 50 percent supported Congress examining the issue, while 42 percent opposed.

GOP blocks inquiry into Bush's handling of war

Washington -- House Republican leaders blocked a move Thursday by an increasingly emboldened Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi to launch a broad investigation into the Bush administration's handling of the war in Iraq.

"I think it brings shame to this House to be engaged in a coverup when it comes to revealing what's happening in Iraq,'' said Pelosi, D-San Francisco, after her "privileged" motion was ruled out of order. She appealed that decision and lost on 220-191 vote, with only one Democrat voting with the Republican majority.

Now why do you suppose they'd wanna do that? Couldn't have anything to do with american's favoring impeachment if the truth comes out, would it?

Majority doubt Bush's integrity, poll finds

    - Richard Morin, Dan Balz, Washington Post
    Friday, November 4, 2005

Washington -- For the first time in his presidency, a majority of Americans question the integrity of President Bush, and on virtually every key measure of presidential character and performance -- including Iraq, the economy and the war on terrorism -- he has never been less popular with the American people, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll.

Currently 39 percent approve of the job he is doing as president, while 60 percent now disapprove of his performance in office -- the highest level of disapproval ever recorded for Bush in Washington Post-ABC polls.

    So who's a "wing-nut" now?

how many inquires into this have their been?

Must suck to have no power, therefore be reduced to hoping for scandals that might give the democrats a chance.

Of course his poll numbers suck. look at everything that is going on, from katrina, to libby and the media crying doom and gloom in iraq everyday.

This libby scandal wont last forever, and over time bush's poll numbers will become respectable again.

Interesting to remember that while clinton was well liked by americans, the polls showed that a majority didnt think he was honest.

Try imagining how desperate and vindictive the GOP would be if they lose their majority in `06. The only thing that's preventing the whole house of cards from tumbling down is their current majority. You lose that, you lose everything.

For freeing the Iraqis from Saddam, he deserves to be in the same jail as Saddam, the butcher. You're very funny.

plano, I agree with you, but these things have a life of their own like the right wing conspiracy theories.

    That's not a "tiny minority".

My loathing of bush is because I care (deeply) about my country and my world. Bush is damaging it. He's lying to the dumbest among us and fostering ignorance. He's fooling people into believing that invading and occupying iraq is a logical and sensible reaction to 9/11. He's taking away the moral authority that our nation has had as the lone "superpower". He's torturing people, eliminating basic civil rights, reducing the civility of our nation, pitting factions against each other, deliberately dividing us, manipulating the truth, enriching the rich at the expense of the poor, corrupting our government, and killing innocent people.

    I could go on . . .

    No Big deal!!!

But, as long as democrats like you continue to deal in slander and lies and fantasy and conspiracies, you wont get back any power.

The great part for us, is that it still seems like they Democratic party doesnt get it yet.

Which means another victory in 2006.

Let me say it, democrats have absolutely NO Chance at winning this next election.

That isnt being impartial or cocky or anything, because i would have no problem whatsoever stating that that republicans are in trouble this election.

    But they AINT.

Now, the next presidential election is up for grabs big time.

But, with the state of the current liberal party in America, i cant see them winning back the House or Senate for a very long time.

The voices of the party are just too liberal and some down right radically so.

The list could go on and on of the deceptions constantly perpetrated by your party that are creating divides in this country, but you choose to always turn a blind eye to those issues.

my party oviously is at fault as well.

The over the top, get clinton at all costs, what with the accusations of murder and the like, realy caused alot of animosity, and i personally think is why there is so much anger now.

Also, a huge divide exists because of the Bush, Gore election, but how could that have been any different.

Both sides would have been just as angry and felt they were cheated.

honestly gadzuux, to say that BUSH IS THE REASON FOR THE DIVEDE IN THIS NATION, isjust not accurate.

I know he has made liberals angry, but that always happens in a presidency, but unfortunately, be it Bush 1, reagan or Bush 2, your side always has to assign evil intentions to your opponents.

    That is called being divisive.
