I think there is more potential in the Living Seas than anywhere else on property. Nemo is a decent placeholder, but I hope the Living Seas can one day soon become a sparkling gem of WDW.

It is the only Future World Pavillion that really removes you from today/Florida. With a little bit of work it could convincingly take us all to the future and into Sea Base Alpha once again.

An Educational Film, fun hydrolators with new effects and visuals, an amazing immersive family attraction in and around Sea Base Alpha, and the eventual arrival within the base itself could be a perfect pavillion. Here guests explore on thier own and discover many interesting facts and creatures of the deep.

The Living Seas are really in a great position to become a showstopper. Mission Space has scared enough people away, Test Track has become tired, so Future World is ripe to go in another direction. Living Seas is the answer. It is time to go back to offering Edutainment and experiences for the whole family.

I hope there are some future plans, beyond Crush and the playground.

They repainted over the old Sea Base Alpha details and made it all "seasick green/blue". Took some educational exhibits and put in a playground for kids. New Kidcot's spot opened on the first floor... Took the exit hydrolators out and put sliding doors instead, killing the "Underwater" feel of ex-Sea Base Alpha.

    >>I hope the Living Seas can one day soon become a sparkling gem of WDW.<<

Doubtful. For that, WDW has to become the gem of the WDC but that honor goes to TDR in my book. I personally would have preferred to see the former movie theaters inside the pavillion turned into TDS' StormRider, and then have guests deplane into the Sea Base, via sea cabs like it used to be before.. But the Nemo overlay has pulled the plug on the scientific real aspects Living Seas aimed to achieved as originally conceived.

I am not. You can find playgrounds in every neighborhood on Earth. Do we need to pay $61 per day to see a glorified palyground?? Besides, not everyone who goes to Disney is a parent or go with kids. Taking down E-tickets and replacing them with themed playgrounds hardly makes up for the expense of visiting the resort.

Some may say that it is helping to build the brand, but plenty of us on here are big spending fans who never showed up to use the teeter-totter.

Disney is not gaining anything for these additons. They can only advertise them as improvments. Most would disagree that they improve upon anything.

Alas, the Future in Future World has been almost eradicated completely... I'm not against Nemo inside the Living Seas, in fact, I'm not against the new dark ride in development. But, to 'dumb down' the Sea Base Alpha concept into just a plain looking aquarium? Sorry, but, BAD idea in my opinion!

Also, concerning playgrounds in the theme parks. Well, I'm not totally against them, as long as they're PART of the entire scheme of an attraction or land. Good examples of playgrounds in parks...

    Tom Sawyer Island
    Boneyard at Animal Kingdom
    Honey I Shrunk the Kids
The playground in Jurrasic Park at IOA
Even Donald's Boat in Mickey's Toontown Fair might qualify.

All are part of the overall theme and character of the park.

Some BAD examples of playgrounds to me are:

Pooh's Thoughful Spot (would be ok if it didn't replace an E-Ticket and was built adjacent to and blended in with the Pooh attraction)
    Playground in Toontown Fair
Playground at Splash Mountain (though this doesn't take up any valuable space)
And, from the looks of it, this one inside the Living Seas.

I'm going to go out on a limb and assume you didn't even look at or walk around Bruce's sub house or whatever it's called. Not only is it not a "playground", it is packed from wall to wall with very interesting and very educational exhibits about sharks, their habitats, and their role in the Seas. Imo, much more fun and interesting than what was there a while ago (which wasn't much) Even the area behind Bruce himself, which is probably tailored a bit more to the younger set than the adult exhibits and quiz-show style interactive videos in the front half of that area, is quite an educational treat. Sure, it doesn't educate about the future of the seas, I'll give you that much, but it is still very educational and is NOT a playground (at least not in the sense of the Pooh one at MK).

Also, I'd imagine Turtle Talk has such a long line because its popular, not because of a lack of things to do in the pavilion (which is also somewhat true if you don't like watching fish swim). Beyond the paint job, the Living Seas is identical attraction-wise as before it went under rehab. From what I've heard though, the former Seabase alpha area will become more of a post-show area ala MS for the new rumored ride vs being THE attraction as before....but that is still not yet announced, so who knows.

Anyhow, great set of pics again. I appreciate them.

They may get in for free but their parents don't...not to mention hotels, food, photos, other merchandise etc.etc.

<<<Taking down E-tickets and replacing them with themed playgrounds hardly makes up for the expense of visiting the resort.>>> Slight exaggeration for effect? Are you somehow thinking Subs were closed and paved over so a Pooh playground could be put in its place? Since they still have enough land left over from the sub closure for at least two rides, I wouldn't call the new playground a replacement for a previous "E" ticket.

I'd say it was additional theming for the Pooh ride that was severly lacking. Instead of just plan asphault, we now have an area that is more appropriately themed while still having the space to add at least two additional rides.

I don't like the idea that they removed the hydolaters (sp?). My kids were absolutely convinced that we were going down under the sea. It was a simple and quite convincing illusion. Even to some adults I talked to.

I understand that some "single" adults find it childish and not worthy of the high cost of admission but it really is just a small part of the resort and the kids are "guests" too. Someday they will be adults and fond memories will make them return. There are so few things for kids at Epcot it needed some family tuning.

And besides that who do you know that pays $61.00 for admission anyway. With the new ticket plans one can easily pay in the $30.00 per day range. There are plenty of things for "grownups" to do, especially in Epcot.
