I've been keeping a price tracker since May, so I can tell you that at our grocery store milk has gone down since then. I believe it had a sharp run up before that. So, for the year, it may be up, I couldn't say. I've noticed that eggs are up over the last year or so too. What's really helped us is that when I make dinner I try really hard to make as few portions as possible. Sometimes I can cut the recipe down to 2 servings (ideal), but mostly the recipe can only realisticly go down to 3 or 4, sometimes I'm stuck with 6 servings. When I cut down the servings I cut down on the left overs I throw away. I do eat some leftovers for my lunch, but making 6 servings a day every day provided way more leftover than I can eat alone and elderp really doesn't do leftovers. The second thing that has really helped is that elderp is making an effort to lose weight and is taking smaller lunches to work. For sure eating out every day is really expensive, so I'm greatful that he doesn't do that. On the other hand the pre-packaged stuff that goes in lunches, when you eat less, and it lasts longer it just costs less!
