I still can't imagine making a movie about kids singin' and dancin' their way to the prom. I'm picturing an entire production number about warming up the hot rollers for the big hairdo. Zzzz...

It's always interesting talking to people about things like that, since it really does vary so much from one school to another, even within the same school district at times. From my general experience, it also seems like people make a bigger deal of prom on the east coast than they do on the west coast. I don't know why (maybe it's just part of celebrating springtime, which doesn't really happen when you don't have seasons), but just an observation. >>I really don't think this movie will recieve a WOC encore. My understanding is that it's just supposed to be a fun popcorn flick. >>I'm picturing an entire production number about warming up the hot rollers for the big hairdo.<< I'm guessing that you didn't see High School Musical 3, then? (and I don't think Prom is a musical, is it?)

I think students are just worn out by the end of the year, and aren't interested in paying $70 dollars (and possibly another 70 if they are paying for their date) just for a ticket and then renting a tux, buying a corsage (thats probably spelled wrong), and maybe even hiring a limo or town car. For that much money I would just take a girl out to a nice dinner. At least then I wouldn't have to reveal my terrible dancing.

For the most part the student body was more enthused about going to Disneyland for GradNight.
