Plus, I loved horror movies, which of course made the fear of the dark worse. It was a vicious circle. I had a stack of board games in my closet. One of them was a Dark Shadows game, with a hideous vampire Barnabas Collins face bearing his fangs. Every night it would stare at me. Had to keep the hall light on, couldn't sleep without it and --- Hey, hey, I said my childhood isn't on trial here! I just like flashlights, okay?!?
